1. What Cookies and Local Storage Tools Are

Cookies are small text files that websites send to your device, where they are stored and then sent back to the server on your next visit.

Kiyoru also uses similar client-side storage technologies:

• LocalStorage / SessionStorage: Browser memory areas used to temporarily keep interface settings or session states.
• IndexedDB: A structured local database inside your browser, used by Kiyoru to store local copies of your library and history, guaranteeing instant speed and offline support.

2. Which Cookies and Technologies We Use

Kiyoru does not collect personal data for advertising profiling. We use only strictly necessary and essential tools:

• Authentication and Session (Firebase Auth): Technical tokens and temporary identifiers indispensable to let you sign in, keep you securely authenticated and protect your account from unauthorized access. Without these elements it is not possible to log in.
• Integrity and Security (Firebase App Check / Cloudflare): Tokens and cryptographic signatures issued to verify that requests to our APIs (api.kiyoru.app) come from a legitimate user session and not from malicious bots or attempts to abuse network resources.
• Functionality and Preferences: We store your operational choices locally (via LocalStorage), such as:
  • Your browsing language;
  • The rating scale configuration (e.g. base 5, 10 or 100);
  • Whether the anti-spoiler filters are on or off.
• Offline Storage (IndexedDB): Keeps your personal library in your browser to eliminate loading times and let you browse your tracked series and episodes even without a connection.

3. No Third-Party or Advertising Cookies

• We do not use behavioral profiling or marketing cookies.
• We do not install third-party advertising trackers or conversion pixels (such as Meta pixels or Google AdSense ads).
• Since Kiyoru relies exclusively on technical and essential tools to deliver the requested service, current European legislation (Directive 2002/58/EC as amended) does not require a prior tracking-consent banner.

4. Managing and Disabling Cookies

You can configure your browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge) to refuse or delete cookies and clear local storage from its security and privacy settings:

• Technical note: Fully disabling or removing the essential technical cookies will prevent the application from working properly, making it impossible to sign in to your personal profile.
• Clearing your browser data will empty the local IndexedDB database: on your next login, your tracking data will be re-synchronized from the Kiyoru servers.
